 Well first of all, I called Nass Alghiwian style as RAP not because it is RAP as we understand it today, but because it belongs to the same world wide generation of 70's/60's that created a sociopolitically engaged music style that is based on popular talk and rhythms. It can be in the US as well as in Africa as long as it keeps the local roots. Today?s kids think RAP is 50c and Pdd... But it is beyond that. The other reason I called it RAP is not to defined as such but because for me it really goes with the definition of the word rap: To criticize severely and to talk, ... Now as far as the ?Itaki? way or ?We can live without man? way... Fortunately I don't belong to any... I'm just an independent person with no dogmas behind. When I talk about Hell, I don't mean it in its simple meaning of punishment, I mean it in a large sense of Good and Bad. I think Nass Alghiwan are the best ever Moroccan music group in modern recoded history and I felt very disenchanted with the kids that are blowing all this heritage away and channeling it to their little "handy" frustrations. Oh, one more point, those ?songs? I talked about are very revealing to the psyche of their maker? Read between the screams and you?ll find a very deprived little homo in side the voice! Think about it, maybe you are Djajet Lil after all! And that is your nature! Don?t fight yourself too much to portray an image that is not you? Why are you hiding anyways? I couldn?t find any pictures or identity material on you online? Is that still the Djaja mentality kicking in??? Try to get some therapy that might help you come out from the closet with less damage to your ego. There is no problem with being different as long as you stand up for yourslef.  Dear Consciousness, Hell I disagree with you. First of all nass al ghiwane would not be happy to see their style called RAP for they are the antidote of synthetic modernist music. Maybe I agree with you that mixing the traditional and the modernist (and not the modern) is not good, but the tradition of al ghiwane follows that of Choukri who see in crude language not a 'hni 3aynek we hchem' thing but a legitimate discourse of resistance. Hence, killaw is a reflection of a culture we grew up with (and probably you too before you either embraced the ittaki Allah brother-sister way or the feminist way of do not wear pink cause it's phallic imagination). I don't think cacophonies such as Fin-Tout, 9aylaw, Paris or Lghiwan can be even qualified as song, but rather a KRY OF FRUSTRATION! I think whoever made those songs needs major psychological help. I also think to call such language with some stolen beat in the background a Song is a major mistake. None of those songs have any of the artistic minimum requirements to be called anything related to art. It is a bunch of frustrated young screaming animals, with no respect for anything including themselves expressing their own sad sexual frustrations. I don't care how good you can solve a triple integral or define the convergence of series, the point is that INFORTUNATLY you did not learn anything about LIFE. Maybe you heard this old banned concept called RESPECT!!!! Maybe not, I have some doubts on that. Being mature and professional is very important to succeed in anything in life. Instead of talking about your side that can help others progress and advance, you are just pushing them deeper into the darkness... WHY DO YOU FEEL LIKE YOU HAVE TO DO THAT??? IS THAT SOME KIND IF INNER ISSUE THAT YOU HAVE, OR IS IT JUST STUPID SIMPLICITY? WE ARE WATCHING YOU! You can maybe hide fi Lil but in the day your ugly fat face is all over the place out there! Pour ceux qui pensent que les groupes de rap marocains comme l3awd doivent s'autosencurer parce que des moins jeunes et des jeunes filles ?coutent, je trouvent ?a un peu limit? et hypocrite. La chanson est percutante et crue avec des termes ? l'image de sa r?alit?. Si le message ?tait transmis de fa?on plus ?thiquement correcte elle perderait de son sens et de ce fait ?a en ferait une banalit?, exemple la chanson raw daw, retirez lui ses termes "crus" et bien ?a ne lui donne plus le m?me effet. Y a des r?alit?s que l'ont ne peut denoncer qu'avec une massue ! C'est clair qu'on peut ?tre choqu? en fait on sait pas trop si c'est les mots ou l'id?e g?n?ral que donne la chanson... Ce m?lange id?e mot moi je trouve que c est plut?t pas mal. Big up pour 3awd lil. Bravo pour la chanson Lghalia o Samia, c'est un pur bijou. ;-)

Par rapport ? la question sur l'utilisation des mots"parfois choquant". Le Rap appartient ? la rue et non aux salons feutr?s , il utilise les mots crus et si les auteurs du RAP cherchent ? faire plaisir aux diff?rents publics le Rap perdra son ?me . A ceux qui sont choqu?s par les mots de la rue d'apprendre ? l'entendre et ? appr?cier sa dimension artistique.

l3awd, j'ai enregistre une musique gharnati (oujda) que mon ami a joue avec la guitare.. c'est pas pro, mais il y a une magie.. je peux te la communiquer, et c'est a toi de voir. tu peux la mixer, l'editer, etc - je sais pas comment tu peux faire du rap avec une musique gharnati (guitare seule) mais je suis sur tu trouvera sa place kelke part. Aussi je suis sur que parmi nous, il y a des gens qui jouent de la musique.. peut etre ils peuvent contribuer ? open music... ca sera un peu analogue au open software n'est ce pas ? a plus! |

Your RAP is excellent!
As to the choice of words I say keep it clean to the best you can without losing the bluntness of the reality. The only reason I say so is that you will be able to harvest a larger audience. I think it?s very possible and challenging as you said to get your message across without repelling sensitive hearts. The balance in Mas3oud was just right and your judgment was accurate. I simply think that you are a better artist if you manage to make an impact without damage.

Actually L3awd, I was thinking about this discussion while driving yesterday, and I realized that you should let yourself do what you want, what makes you comfortable. If some don't like what you say, then it's not for them. Apparently you have a lot of success, I will try and make a basic statistic from the messages posted on the RAW DAW discussion, and figure out a percentage of people who like your work. Basically, let your art out, if you modify it too much just to please people it will be fake. I've had the same experience with Flash animations... I remember I used to get a couple of hate emails from this person in Syria, middle east, who complained about one of my animations called Sheikh Rules. For some reason he interpreted every single thing in the animation as propaganda against Islam and he told me an Israeli wouldn't have done such tricky work :] How I felt? I didn't change anything, I kept on doing my animations which most of the time LACK a good storyline, but in general they're ME, a reflection of my random thoughts. |

L3awd, aussi pour repondre plus precisement a ta question, je pense que tu mets deja des limites sur les textes perverts que tu choisis. Je n'ai pas entendu quelque chose de tres derrangeant. Tu peux censurer les gros mots comme t'as fais dans Mess3oud (when ali bou la7ya spotted mess3oud...), ou bien offrir 2 versions, version censore et autre pas. Mais en general, je NE t'encourage pas a utiliser les mots des partie privees, et le F-word en marocain... c'est derrangeant d'entendre cela meme dans des chansons RAP Americaines..

L3awd, mon conseil, continue a offrir un choix pour tes lecteurs. Des chansons perverts pour ceux qui peuvent tolerer.. et autres chansons pas trop perverts ou meme propre pour ceux qui appreci ton talent et aime entendre tes chansons en plein maison, en famille, a la voiture avec famille, ami(e)s etc. Plus important, J'attends toujours une chanson moins dramatique, une chanson FUN, optimistique, rejuissante.. peut etre avec une chanson joyeuse, tu n'aura pas a utiliser des mots perverts et provoquant pout transmettre tes messages ou bien ton histoire.. d'habitude, quand on a un message fache et dramatique a transmettre on a tendance d'utiliser de tel language. |
